My third book was about God. Taking Back God: American Women Rising Up for Religous Equality was published in 2009. I continue to lecture and speak with the media about the activism of women of faith who want to be treated as equals in their religious communities.

So what comes next after God? Shoes!

My fourth and most recent book, Bad Shoes & The Women Who Love Them (Seven Stories Press), is a fun, adorable treat for any woman who loves her shoes. (To some women, it seems, their shoes are their god.)

Bad Shoes is a lighthearted wakeup call to women to make smart choices when buying and wearing fashionable shoes. My message is: Ladies, please be judicious with your heels! Otherwise you will cause long-term damage to your feet. The book also explores the significance of shoes, the psychology behind the foot fetish, the history of foot binding, the feminist critique and celebration of high heels, and the evolution of elevated footwear.
